WELCOME TO… Fish Hall 75th Photo Contest!
The Ladner Fishermen’s Cooperative Association (LFCA) is pulling out all the stops in an effort to visually document our fishing heritage by mounting a photo contest that runs October 18th thru November 30th 2018. Please NOTE the closing date extension!
This photo contest serves two (2) purposes…
- Collect images that document the rich fishing heritage of Delta… from the earliest days to current day when the citizens of Delta plied the waters on the coast of British Columbia, more specifically, the salmon-rich waters of the Fraser River watershed.
- Visually illustrate the history of Ladner Fishermen’s Hall since 1943… Fish Hall became a reality when the former train station building was moved from the wharf at Port Guichon to its present location on 4481 Savoy Street in Ladner, BC.
Photo Contest Rules:
- Any citizen or family of Delta, past and present, who has a connection with fishing in Delta ~ Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta ~ is eligible to enter and submit photos.
- Photos submitted may be in print or digital format. Prints and digital images being submitted shall clearly identify the person entering the contest, their contact information (phone and email), the category that each image is being entered into, subject of each image and approximate date that the image was taken.
- Images in print format must be appropriately packaged to prevent damage to same and labelled to ensure the safe return of any photo prints to the person submitting the entry. Prints so packaged shall be submitted to… LFCA c/o Richard Mayer … 4713 – 46th Avenue, Delta, BC V4K 1N2
- Images in digital format shall be as large as possible at a resolution that will permit reproduction as large format prints. Digital files may be uploaded directly to the LFCA web site at Fish Hall 75th Photo Contest Upload Portal.
- Persons submitting entries must be the owner of the image or have express permission of the owner of the image to enter the photo into this contest.
- Persons submitting entries also agree to grant permission to LFCA and its representatives to publish any photos submitted, to be used for marketing and communications that promote fishing in Delta and the Fishermen’s Hall 75th Anniversary. Appropriate photo credits will be included as and when images are published.
- A panel of judges, as appointed by the LFCA, will review and adjudicate all entries, and identify those photos that qualify for winning images in the following categories… Gold (1st), Silver (2nd), Bronze (3rd) and Honourable Mention. One (1) photo in each of the categories will be awarded the top prizes; up to five (5) photos may be recognized in the Honourable Mention category. Decisions of the judging panel will be final.
- Winners in the respective categories will be notified by Ladner Fishermen’s Cooperative Association.

We are super excited about the Fish Hall 75th Photo Contest and are really looking forward to seeing what photographs from then and now come out of woodwork! Photos that have been entered into the Fish Hall 75th Photo Contest entries will be showcased at Ladner Fishermen’s Hall during the Afternoon Social and Evening Dance on November 24th.
